SNACKBAR

Our friends Freddie Jansen and Anais van Manen have been running the brilliant Snackbar for several years and have dished up unique bites and packed events all over London . Now though, they're looking for funding to take Snackbar up a gear.....

The pair have plans to take over over the old Farmshop Cafe on Dalston Lane, beside Dalston Junction station. The cafe will offer "a selection of globally- inspired, seasonal and creative sandwiches, salads, rice bowls, snacks and more."

It's a partnership with FARM:shop - the world's first urban farming hub. Using the farm's high-tech indoor allotments and an outdoor polytunnel, the café will be in the fortunate position of being able to grow its own vegetables, herbs and mushrooms right in the heart of East London.

To give you an idea of what they'll serve, you can expect dishes like a mortadella banh mi with pickles from the fermentation basement; rice bowls topped with mushrooms grown in the mini mushroom farms; and a Snackbar Farm Salad using leaves and flowers grown in the back garden.
